Start. Seriously. When I started podcasting I walked into the local music store and said “I want to podcast. What should I buy?” They sold me a microphone. I found a 30-day demo of some Skype recording software, hit up a friend to do a first interview, and went from there.

Iterate. Quickly if possible. One of the best pieces of advice I got was from a friend named Dusti Arab. “If it were me, I’d just start recording a ton of episodes and see what happens”.

Don’t Be Afraid Of The “Big Guys”. Joshua Becker’s audience is much bigger than mine, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have things in common. If you need help, it doesn’t hurt to ask the “big guys” (or “big gals”, as the case may be) for a nudge.

But Don’t Idolize The “Big Guys”. You can sometimes learn as much from other people starting out as you can from the big name people. I started out panicking because I thought I’d run out of people to interview, until I realized how many smaller bloggers and non-bloggers there were that I could talk to. Some of my favorite interviews are with people you’ve never heard of.

You’re Your Own Harshest Critic. I know I hear problems with my own podcast audio that other people don’t notice.

Nothing Beats Momentum

When I first got the idea for doing a podcast I asked a lot of questions and did a lot of analysis. Then a friend of mine, Dusti Arab, gave me about the best advice I’ve ever gotten – “Just record a ton of episodes and see what happens”.

We’re All Different

The minimalism and simplicity movements have people from most every walk of life. We have atheists, religious people, vegans, paleo followers, tree-huggers, rich people, poor people, and everybody in between.

But We’re All Similar

You’ll note I didn’t say “we’re all the same”. That would be a load of garbage, because we’re just not. But no matter who you talk to, there are core values that run pretty deep.

Simple Isn’t A Tip Or A Trick

Most minimalists have some advice to give, but

The benefits of minimalism only reliably follow one thing – action.
