Anybody that’s ever put together a website and published content knows that it takes some combination of time and money to do so. Given that fact, I believe that it’s reasonable for authors of quality content to be compensated for their efforts.
What isn’t reasonable, however, is the way many of these authors go about getting compensated. There’s a growing trend in marketing that attempts to disguise ads as part of regular page content, create artificial urgency (“the price goes up at midnight! Buy now!”), and generally deceive people.
That’s why I have this page. I’m not going to try to trick or deceive you into buying anything, and I’m certainly not going to tell you to buy a junk product just so I can make a fast buck – but if you do buy something through a link on my site, I want you to know that I may make a small commission on the sale. It’s as simple as that.
Display Advertising
There will be a single display ad on the side of each of my pages, placed in the sidebar. The one ad may be different on each page, but there will be only one ad per page. This ad will typically be for a product or service that I believe in and/or have used myself. If I decide to accept a third-party ad, each ad will be reviewed by me and rejected if I believe the ad to be deceptive or misleading, or if I have any ethical objections to the product or service being promoted.

Various posts on this site may link to other sites and/or products. For example, a review of a book might provide a link to the author’s website or blog, and somewhere in the post there would most likely be a link to the book on Amazon.com. In such cases, links to products may be affiliate links.
